Mini March Madness Hits CUSD

The Carlsbad Unified Elementary Schools go Head to Head for the Mini March Madness Perpetual Trophy

Carlsbad Unified School District and the City of Carlsbad Recreation Department hosted its annual “Mini March Madness” Basketball Tournament on Thursday, March 3 at Poinsettia School in Carlsbad. The students, parents, and community came to support students and cheer for the players in an exciting, active, and positive way, incorporating the T.R.U.S.T. (Teaching Respect, Unity, and Sportsmanship through Teamwork) code of ethics. The 5th grade boys and girls teams represented all nine CUSD elementary schools: Aviara Oaks, Buena Vista, Calavera Hills, Hope, Jefferson, Kelly, Magnolia, Pacific Rim, and Poinsettia.

The Pacific Rim Girls team won the girls tournament, and the Magnolia Boys team took first place in the boys tournament with a shot at the buzzer. The perpetual trophy was presented to the winning schools.
