Motorcyclist Killed In Carlsbad Crash

A motorcyclist was killed in a crash with a pickup truck along the Carlsbad coastline, police said Monday.

CARLSBAD, CA – A motorcyclist was killed in a crash with a pickup truck along the Carlsbad coastline, police said Monday.

Dispatchers received reports at about 4:35 p.m. Sunday of a motorcyclist who was seriously injured after colliding with a Toyota pickup in the 4600 block of Carlsbad Boulevard, Carlsbad police Lt. Christie Calderwood said.

Officers arrived and found a motorcycle with severe damage lying in the roadway as well as a Toyota pickup, driven by a 38-year-old Grand Terrace man, with extensive damage, Calderwood said.

The 19-year-old San Marcos man riding the motorcycle suffered serious injuries and was pronounced dead while being transported to a hospital, Calderwood said. His name was withheld pending family notification.

Carlsbad police were investigating the circumstances of the collision. Anyone with information about the crash was asked to call the department's accident investigator at 760-931-2208.
