CARLSBAD, CA – The Carlsbad Police Department is accepting registrations for this year's National Night Out, the annual gathering of friends and neighbors that highlight police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie.

The evening is set for Tuesday, Aug. 6 from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. The registration deadline to request Carlsbad officers visit the gatherings is Aug. 2.

The neighborhood events typically revolve around outdoor block parties, barbecues or potlucks. Residents wishing to participate with the police stopping by can email jodee.reyes@carlsbadca.gov with the organizer's name, the address and details of of the get-together and the number of adults and children expected to attend.

National Night Out began in 1984 and now is a nationwide tradition, typically held on the first Tuesday of August. National Night Out 2019 is predicted to involve 37.8 million people from 16,124 communities in all 50 states. Read more here.
