Students from Jefferson Middle School in Oceanside have won a countywide competition that was part of the San Diego International Airport Art Program.
The competition was open to individual children, community-based organizations, museums, youth groups and schools with the mandate to create works of art that were inspired by the “creative intersection of art, science and technology.”
The Oceanside students created original artwork on 14x20 pieces of fabric that will be arranged to resemble a 36' long quilt and installed on the Youth Art Wall in the corridor between the airport’s Terminal 2 East and West gates.
Linda Kallas, the teacher for this art class at Jefferson, was also recently selected by the Oceanside Chamber of Commerce as Teacher of the Year.
This commitment to public art projects as well as the caliber of teaching at area schools is yet another reason why Oceanside is a wonderful place to raise a family. Look for Oceanside homes for sale here.
