Pedestrian Fatally Struck By Car On SR-76 In North County
The deadly crash happened near the intersection of state Route 76 and Canyon Drive in Oceanside, police said.
OCEANSIDE, CA — A pedestrian was fatally struck by a car over the weekend in northern San Diego County, authorities said Monday.
The crash happened at about 6:23 p.m. Sunday near the intersection of state Route 76 and Canyon Drive in Oceanside, according to the Oceanside Police Department.
"This collision occurred when a white Toyota Prius heading westbound on SR-76 collided with a pedestrian who was crossing the highway illegally from south to north about 100 yards east of the intersection," Oceanside police Sgt. Clint Bussey said.

The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. Their identity was withheld pending family notification.
The driver of the car stayed at the scene and cooperated with police. The driver was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol, Bussey said.
