Pedestrian Fatally Struck By Train In Carlsbad

CARLSBAD, CA — A pedestrian was fatally struck by a train Friday in Carlsbad.

An Amtrak train hit a man around 9:15 a.m. just north of the Carlsbad Village Station in the 2700 block of State Street, according to the San Diego County Sheriff's Department. The victim, whose identity was not immediately available, died at the scene.

"Deputies are investigating the incident," sheriff's Deputy Christopher Campbell said. "The manner of death will be determined by the San Diego County Medical Examiner's Office."
