Pedestrian Fatally Struck By Train In North County

OCEANSIDE, CA — A Coaster train struck and killed a pedestrian Tuesday near Oceanside Harbor, authorities said.

The rail fatality at a grade crossing on Surfrider Way in Oceanside occurred shortly before 9:30 a.m., according to the San Diego County Sheriff's Department's Transit Enforcement Unit.

The victim, whose identity was not immediately available, died at the scene, Deputy James Steinmeyer said.
