RETIRED REAR ADMIRAL SPEAKS AT ARMY AND NAVY ACADEMY -- Retired Navy Rear Adm. Thomas Lynch discusses “Ship, Shipmate and Self” February 21 to middle school- and high school-age Cadets at the Army and Navy Academy in Carlsbad. The two-star flag officer was superintendent of the U.S. Naval Academy and commander of an Operation Desert Shield battle group during his 31-year naval career. He currently is the board chairman of NewDay USA, a nationwide mortgage banking firm specializing in home loans for veterans.

While at the academy, Lynch also presented a NewDay USA $40,000 three-year scholarship to a 10th-grade Cadet whose father died of cancer as the result of his service as a Marine.
