Rock the Library with Teen Bands Beginning May 9

The 2013 featured bands include Fractal Pterodactyl on May 9, John's Last Ghost on May 23 and Out to Sea on June 6.

Once again, award-winning teen bands will rock Carlsbad City Library for its annual Rock the Library concert series.  Fractal Pterodactyl kicks off the concerts on May 9, followed by John’s Last Ghost on May 23 and concluding with Out to Sea on June 6.  All concerts take place from 7-8 p.m. in Carlsbad City Library’s Ruby G. Schulman Auditorium, 1775 Dove Lane. Admission is free and concerts are fun for families and teens.

“The Rock the Library concert series is one of my favorite events,” Carlsbad City Library Teen Librarian Darin Williamson recently shared. “We feature the winning bands from the City of Carlsbad Parks & Recreation Department’s Teen Scene Battle of the Bands. If you didn’t have a chance to see them perform earlier in the year, this is a fun time to check them out. The library enjoys supporting up-and-coming teen musicians.”

May 9: Fractal Pterodactyl is based in North County and their music includes elements of reggae, blues and psychedelic rock. The band consists of guitarist/vocalist Mark Schneider and his brother Eric Schneider on bass guitar, Sean Langford on keyboard and Blake Armstrong on drums. They won the 2012 Westfield North County Battle of the Bands.

May 23: John’s Last Ghost consists of lead singer Shaker (Shocker) Kattoula, Lawrence Kattoula on guitar and Elias Saldana on drums. This punk band is on a mission to keep rock and roll alive. They placed second at Teen Scene.

June 6: Out to Sea is a band from Carlsbad that plays modern metal (a mix of thrash, progressive and metal core). Friends Kyle Scarcia (drums), Chase “Cooper” Balfour (bass/vocals) and Alexander “Quincy” Goodman (lead guitar/ vocals) connected with Garrison Zoutendyk (guitar/lead vocals) and formed Out to Sea in 2012. They placed first at Teen Scene.
