San Diego County Sheriff's Department: Update: Homicide - Ramona

LOCATION:       600 Block of Pine Street, Ramona

DECEASED:        Mario Velazquez Cardoso, 46-years-old

SUSPECT:           Michael Allen Hughes, 71-years-old

On the morning of November 5, 2020, forty-six-year-old Mario Cardoso was shot and killed in the front driveway of his home in the 600 block of Pine Street in Ramona. Sheriff's Homicide detectives continued their investigation and identified seventy-one-year-old Michael Allen Hughes as the suspect in the murder of Cardoso. 

On the morning of September 29, 2021, the San Diego Regional Fugitive Task Force arrested Hughes at his Ramona home in the 20100 block of Atteridge Road. Hughes was booked into the San Diego Central Jail for one count of 187(a) PC – Murder.
