Schubach Aviation Hosts Finale Reception for 2013 “Cruise 4 Kids” Sports & Exotic Car Rally Benefitting Boys & Girls Club

Starting out at the Coronado Ferry Landing Shopping Center, 100 luxury sports car drivers made their way over the Coronado Bridge and up Interstate 5 on a recent early Saturday morning toward Schubach Aviation, the final destination for the 2013 “Cruise 4 Kids” (C4K) Sports & Exotic Car Rally.  All proceeds from the C4K benefitted the Boys and Girls Clubs of San Dieguito.

During the cruise, drivers had the once-in-a-lifetime experience of having the road all to themselves, with the closure of the Coronado Bridge and I-5 north to regular traffic.  The event was captured from every angle by the local media, HD-car-mounted-cameras, and videographers riding in overhead helicopters. The footage will be used to produce a movie, expected out later this year.

At the conclusion of the rally, the participants’ friends, family members and other car enthusiasts welcomed the C4K drivers at Schubach Aviation’s 45,000-square-foot hangar at Palomar Airport, where guests indulged in a catered lunch and hosted bar and enjoyed DJ’d music, vendor and sponsor booths, driving simulators, a silent auction, raffle and an award presentation. Participants’ cars were on display at the hangar, along with some of Schubach Aviation’s luxury private jets.

This was the third consecutive year the C4K has been staged.  Nino Venturella served as executive producer, with Bianca Pitti as co-executive producer.  Annie Ragovin is the director of fundraising & communications for the Boys & Girls Clubs of San Dieguito.  This year’s event raised $13,000 for the organization.

The prestigious C4K rally is limited to 100 luxury sports car drivers.  Henry Schubach, president of Schubach Aviation, had the opportunity to participate.

“It was great fun having exclusive passageway of the Coronado Bridge and the freeway, and just being among other car enthusiasts like myself,” said Schubach.  “More importantly, it was for a good cause.”
