Toddler Fatally Struck By Truck In North County

The 16-month-old​ boy was pronounced dead at the scene.

OCEANSIDE, CA — A toddler was killed Tuesday after being struck by a truck in a residential neighborhood in northern San Diego County.

A white Ford F-150 hit a 16-month-old boy who was walking in the roadway shortly before 3:40 p.m. in the 3200 block of San Tomas Drive in Oceanside, according to the Oceanside Police Department.

The child was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said the driver, a 62-year-old Oceanside resident, stayed at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. Alcohol, drugs and speed were not believed to be a factor in the crash.
