Volunteers Sought For Carlsbad Public Art Advisory Subcommittee
The committee will help select the artist for art at Veterans Memorial Park, which is set to become the city's largest park when it opens.
CARLSBAD, CA — The city of Carlsbad is searching for volunteers to serve on a committee that will help select the artist for new public art at Veterans Memorial Park.
Veterans Memorial Park is set to become the city's largest park when it opens in 2025, and the first to recognize and honor veterans. The site is located on nearly 94 acres, near the intersection of Faraday Avenue and Cannon Road.
Public art will be featured at the park's upper plateau area.

The city has received input from veterans and others on the vision for the new public art. Now, volunteers are needed to serve on a public art advisory subcommittee to review qualifications from artists and select the artist.
"You don't need to be an art expert — although art experts will also be on the committee," an announcement from the city said. "You just need to have an interest in shaping this future public art to honor those who have served our country."

Committee members will attend two to three evening meetings that will be held at City Hall at 1200 Carlsbad Village Drive.
Community members interested in serving on the committee can apply online. The deadline to apply is Dec. 18.
