70-Year-Old Driver Targeted In Road Rage Shooting

The man had his 14-year-old dog with him in his pickup truck when it was shot.

ALAMEDA COUNTY — A 70-year-old man driving with his 14-year-old dog were shot at Monday afternoon in Alameda County. Neither were injured, according to the Alameda County Sheriff's Office which is investigating the shooting.

The sheriff's office did not say what led up to the shooting, or if it was random. The only explanation was that it happened when the suspect vehicle attempted to pass the victim near Foothill and Castro Valley boulevards.

The suspect vehicle continued eastbound on Castro Valley Boulevard to Redwood Road. It was described as possibly a white or light colored sedan.

Following the shooting, the victim, with two bullet holes in his pickup truck, drove to the California Highway Patrol station on Redwood Road. According to the sheriff's office, the victim was startled, but unharmed.
