HAYWARD, CA — A three-month-old East Bay baby who police say was abducted by his mother on Tuesday has been found safe, according to authorities.
Maxence Sirois and his mother, Marina Kazakova, 42, were found in Los Angeles on Wednesday, the Hayward Police Department said.
Kazakova was supposed to return Maxence on Tuesday to his father in Hayward as required by a court-ordered custody agreement, authorities said. But the 42-year-old never showed, according to the Hayward Police Department.
Police issued an Amber Alert Wednesday, saying Kazakova was last seen with the infant around 1 a.m. Sunday near McBride Lane and Underwood Avenue.
The alert also said she was driving a white 2016 Mazda CX-5 with the California license plate 7SJW989 at the time, police said.
California Highway Patrol officers found that car in a parking lot near the intersection of Wilshire Boulevard and Veteran Avenue on Wednesday. Kazakova was nearby with Maxence and police took her into custody in connection with the incident, authorities said.
Maxence is safe and unharmed, police said, adding that they are working to reunite him with his father.
