CASTRO VALLEY, CA — Bhupinder Kumar was visiting Muggs Night Club in Castro Valley on Aug. 8, 1998, when he and another person exchanged words in the parking, according to the Alameda County Sheriff's Office.
The person left briefly with a woman before returning and stabbing Kumar several times in the chest, authorities said.
Kumar, 31, died from his injuries, and the suspect fled with the woman in a dark-colored SUV, deputies said.
The Alameda County Sheriff's Office on Saturday appealed to the public in hopes of solving Kumar's slaying.
Deputies say witnesses described the suspect as a Hispanic male, 5 feet 6 inches to 5 feet 8 inches tall, and between 150 and 170 pounds.
The woman the suspect was with that night was Black, according to authorities, and she drove them both off in an unknown direction.
The Alameda County Sheriff's Office asks that anyone with more information contact the Cold Case Homicide Unit investigators at 510-667-3661 or at the anonymous tip line, 510-667-3622.
