Castro Valley Boy Injured By Hit-And-Run SUV Released From Hospital

The driver didn't stop, but police said that the vehicle's brake lights came on briefly after the collision before the SUV drove away.

CASTRO VALLEY, CA — A 6-year-old boy is recovering after he was hit by a vehicle Tuesday evening in Castro Valley, but authorities are still seeking the driver of the SUV involved in the collision.

The child was crossing Nunes Avenue near Castro Valley Boulevard, near the Jack in the Box restaurant, about 5:30 p.m. when he was hit by an SUV heading south on Nunes, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The SUV's driver didn't stop, but police said that the vehicle's brake lights came on briefly after the collision before the SUV drove away.

The boy's mother was nearby when the collision occurred and he was taken to a hospital. The child, a resident of Castro Valley, was released from care on Wednesday afternoon, the CHP said.

The vehicle is described as a white, mid-sized SUV. Anyone with information about the collision is asked to call the CHP at (510) 581-9028.
