Castro Valley School Awarded $1,000 Education Grant

A Castro Valley school is one of dozens in the Bay Area that will be able to fund new educational programs thanks to a grant.

CASTRO VALLEY, CA — A Castro Valley school is one of dozens in the Bay Area that have been awarded a combined $100,000 in grants that will fund programs ranging from musical instruments to Korean language classes to Chromebook laptops that will be used inside classrooms.

Palomares Elementary in Castro Valley will use its $1,000 grant to purchase equipment for the track and field program, as well as new uniforms.

The grants, presented on Dec. 12 to students and teachers, were given out as part of the Wells Fargo KNBR Step Up to the Plate program, which has granted more than $1.3 million over the last 18 years.
