Chabot, Mission, CSM all vying for Golden Gate title in final week of regular season

The Chabot baseball team has entered the final week of the regular season in a tight group of teams contending for the Coast Golden Gate title.
The Gladiators are tied in second place with College of San Mateo with 12-6 conference marks, both a game behind pace-setter Mission (13-5).
Chabot, which is 20-17 overall, will finish with two games against De Anza and a makeup game against Gavilan, and CSM and Mission will be pitted against each other in a two-game set.
Chabot notched a huge sweep of West Valley last week, 7-1 and 11-5.
In the 11-5 road triumph on Saturday, Chabot amassed 16 hits and broke it open with five runs in the fifth inning followed by three more in the sixth after trailing 3-2.
Chabot’s Trevor Contier, a former Redwood Christian High center fielder, was 3 for 6 with a double and three runs scored. Hunter Harris had a triple and three RBIs. Francisco Pedraza was 3 for 5 with two RBIs. Jalen Bustos was 3 for 4 with a double and two RBIs. Reliever Logan Caton allowed 1 hit and no runs over 2.1 innings. Jack Delmore was the winning pitcher.
In the 7-1 win at Gene Wellman Field, Contier, the designated hitter, was 3 for 5 with two runs scored and Tyler Rourke was 2 for 4 with two RBIs. Chris Tonna (2-3) was the impressive winning pitcher, allowing five hits over 7.0 innings with no runs, five strikeouts and one walk. Marcus Dubois worked a scoreless ninth, allowing no runs and no hits.
