Chabot wrestler Cress wins CCCAA state championship

Antioch High graduate Anthony Cress took first place in the 174-pound division after also winning the NorCal title

Chabot’s Anthony Cress pinned Sacramento City’s Abel Garcia in 2:52 to win the 174-pound title in the CCCAA State Championships Saturday in Stockton.

Cress, an Antioch High School graduate, also won the NorCal title. Chabot’s Chumkaur Dhaliwal and Lazaro Carrasco both placed fourth in the state. Buoyed by Cress, Dhaliwal and Carrasco, who earned All-American honors, Chabot finished ninth in the team standings.
