May Concerts Bringing Music to Locals' Ears

Center for the Performing Arts is the venue for seven separate student performances, all open to the public.

It’s that time of year when concerts presented by our community’s talented students abound. Here are some upcoming events this month open to the public for a nominal admission price at the . 

Come out and enjoy some top-notch, home-grown entertainment and support our young musicians and singers.

May 16 at 7 p.m. music program presents: Into The Clouds!

Into the Clouds! is the school’s annual spring concert featuring music primarily based on the theme of the sky. Don’t miss this evening of exciting music that takes you on a journey through beautiful sunsets and angry storms. Tickets range from $6 to $8. All tickets will be $10 at the door.

May 17 at 7 p.m. music program presents: "Spring Celebration" 

Come celebrate spring with Canyon Middle School's sixth grade music students. This "Spring Celebration" feature's Canyon's sixth grade band, orchestra and choir. Tickets range from $4 to $6.

May 22 at 7 p.m.   bands present: "These Are A Few Of My Favorite Things" 

This concert will feature light music by all the high school’s bands and an awards ceremony. Tickets range from $6 to $8.

May 23 at 7p.m.   choirs present: "Cinemania!! Music from the Movies!!" 

Come hear the greatest music from the movies presented by the Canyon Middle School choirs. Tickets range from $4 to $6.

May 24 at 7 p.m. choirs present  "Sing On!"

The Castro Valley High choirs present their annual Spring Choral Concert, featuring the vocal ensemble, Les Chanteuses, A Cappella Choir, and the Madrigals.  You will hear inspiring poems by such notables as Alfred Lord Tennyson, Rainer Maria Rilke, Sara Teasdale, and Kahlil Gibran set to music. Spirituals, blues and rock numbers will also be performed. Refreshments will be served following the concert. Tickets range from $6 to $8.

May 30 at 7 p.m. orchestral music department presents: "Spring Concerto Concert"

Come experience CVHS's finest orchestra students perform highlights from some of the greatest concertos in the orchestral repertoire. Tickets range from $5 to $10.

May 31 at 7 p.m. choral department presents:
"A Choral Extravaganza"
 

Creekside Middle School's choral department will present "A Choral Extravaganza". This is their annual spring concert featuring sixth through eighth grade students singing songs from folk, popular, musical theater, and film genres. To add a greater dimension, several percussionists from the band are joining the fun. Several students have choreographed some extraordinary moves. Tickets range from $5 to $7. Tickets are $10 at the door, for all ages.
