The women and children who come to Shepherd’s Gate are seeking to start a new life. They are able shop for free at the thrift store for clothes for job interviews and school as well as items to furnish a new place to live after graduation. Proceeds from the thrift store directly support the women and children at Shepherd’s Gate by providing care, safety, education and encouragement as they rebuild their lives. Last year, nearly 1,500 community members joined us at the Oakland Arena. 500 bicycle helmets, 325 booster seats, 1000’s of baby diapers, and much more were given away. The success of this event is driven by the incredible participation and outreach of partner agencies. We’re excited to make this year even bigger and better!

Our Summer Program is open to the entire community for students entering 1st–8th grade. We invite you to experience a summer that combines strong academics with engaging, hands-on fun.
We offer flexible scheduling options to meet your family’s needs: • Full-Day Program (8:30 AM–3:00 PM) • Morning Academics Only (8:30 AM–11:30 AM) • Afternoon Camps Only (12:00 PM–3:00 PM)
<h3>Morning Academics: A Head Start for Fall</h3>
Each morning, students focus on math and English Language Arts with instruction designed to preview the next grade level. Our goal is to reinforce essential skills, introduce new concepts, and help students enter the fall confident and prepared.
Elementary (1st–5th Grade) students strengthen reading comprehension, writing, and math foundations through direct instruction, discussion, and hands-on learning.
Middle School (6th–8th Grade) students build critical thinking and problem-solving skills through focused math and language arts courses that deepen understanding and prepare them for the academic challenges ahead.
<h3>Afternoon Camps: Learn, Create, Compete</h3>
Afternoons are filled with engaging experiences that keep students active and inspired.
Elementary students rotate through a variety of camps including STEM challenges, creative arts, literacy exploration, and team games.
Middle school students choose a focused pathway each cycle: • Game Ready Skills &amp; Training Camp (football, soccer, volleyball) • Think &amp; Create Camp (AI tools, speech &amp; debate, journalism, creative writing, cooking, and more)
Families may also extend the day with our optional Vacation Bible School program, offering a safe and encouraging space for faith, character development, and community.
