CVHS Head Coach Jim Lemmon Gives Recap of Season So Far For Lady Trojans
After beating Hayward High seconds before the buzzer at last night's game, Coach Jim Lemmon talks about where his team stands and where they're heading.

It was a nail-biter game that led to a victory for women's basketball team.
They were down by six against Hayward High with less than a minute-and-a-half to go in the game before by Jazel Talauta.
With this 49 to 48 win, the Lady Trojans league record is 5-1.

I caught up with head coach Jim Lemmon and asked him to give me his thoughts on where he saw the team at mid-season:
We started the season a little slowly as we worked in six new players to the team. Our preseason schedule was one of the most challenging in the Bay Area, and was highlighted by a victory in the Newark Memorial Cougar Classic.

During that tournament we went 3-0, including a championship game victory over St. Joseph's High School 55-33. In that tournament Elena Ala was named the tournament MVP, and Michelle Miyamoto and Jazel Talauta were named to the All-Tournament team.
Ala and Miyamoto are senior co-captains, and along with Talauta form one of the best backcourts in the entire Bay Area. Also providing great leadership and play at both ends of the court are returning players Jessica Woo, Nicole Yee, Kayla Bufardeci and Indigo Flowers.
The teams leading rebounder and dominant post player has been newcomer, freshman forward Jenna Sparks. One of Sparks early season highlights was a 16 point 12 rebound performance at Bishop O'Dowd High School.
The entire team has developed a great chemistry and is working very hard in practice everyday to try and earn a trip back to the CIF Division 1 State playoffs after being eliminated in the second round of the NCS playoffs last season.
The team has got some very big games coming up in the next two weeks including a game with 15-2 Heritage High School this Saturday in the MLK Classic and next week perennial HAAL power Moreau Catholic High School comes to Castro Valley in what is shaping up as a very big league showdown.
The members of the team and the coaching staff will be conducting a youth basketball clinic on Saturday morning, Jan. 28 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. in the Auxiliary Gym at CVHS.
Registration for the clinic will begin at 8:30 a.m. in the gym lobby. The clinic is open to children grades 2 thru 8, and the cost is $25 per child.
There is a discounted rate for teams that would like to attend as a group. The clinic has been conducted in the past and has been a great experience for the kids that have attended and the varsity players who get to interact with the young players in the community.
