Does Anyone Rent DVDs Any More?

The Blockbuster in the downtown San Leandro plaza is closing. Good time to get closeouts while supplies last.

Of course the Blockbuster in Castro Valley has been closed for a while and there's been a lot of controversy over what should go there. 

When is the last time you rented a DVD? Many people have a gazillion channels on cable. And there's always Internet downloads.

Yet there is a DVD vending machine in the Safeway on Redwood Road.

And there are at least five companies offering franchises for DVD rentals.

What's going on with DVD rentals?
