HAYWARD, CA — Authorities say they're investigating a recent crash involving a DUI suspect who was driving with a toddler inside his car.
Details about the crash were limited, and it's unclear if anyone was injured. The crash appears to have happened in Hayward, according to information from the California Highway Patrol.

The California Highway Patrol used the incident to remind drivers that "driving impaired puts more than just the driver at risk.:
Driving under the influence with a child in the vehicle can lead to serious consequences, including potential felony child endangerment charges," police said in a statement on Thursday. "DUI crashes are preventable. No child should ever be put at risk because an adult chose to drive impaired."

The California Highway Patrol urged people to plan if they're going to be drinking.
"Designate a sober driver, use a rideshare, and make sure children are properly secured in an appropriate car seat," authorities said.
