A Free Ticket to Getting Fit

Want to get fit and healthy but don't have a gym membership or the budget?

Thanks to the Hayward Area Recreation and Park District (HARD) and a group of fitness coaches, there is now an way to do so in San Lorenzo every week that is free and fun for adults, teens and tweens.

Every Saturday at 8 a.m., a free Fit Club is offered at the San Lorenzo Community Center Park.

Organized by independent Beachbody coaches in the area, folks workout to a new DVD each week, doing everything from kickboxing to yoga.

Beachbody is the creator of several fitness DVDs, including the popular P90X, Shaun-T's Fit Kids Club and RevAbs.

The independent Beachbody coach will be available the entire class to answer questions, correct form, give modifications to certain exercises, provide motivation, and facilitate each free fit club class.

"It's such a fun way to bring the community together and help folks get fit not only for them but for their neighborhood," said Coach Joy Poulsen. "Friends are bringing friends and are loving the different workouts each week and being able to do it for free is just an added bonus!"

After each workout the coaches mix up heart-healthy protein shakes and share fitness tips and healthy recipes for participants to try at home.

"We welcome every level of fitness, from the beginner to the super fit athlete and we modify for all levels as needed," Poulsen said. "These workouts are designed to get you moving and feeling good."
