Bestseller author of Farm City, Novella Carpenter, will be at the San Leandro Main Library on Saturday. Participants will learn how she grew her urban farm in inner-city Oakland from a garbage-strewn abandoned lot to one populated with turkeys, geese, rabbits, ducks, and two three-hundred pound pigs as well as enough fresh eggs and vegetables to share with her unconventional neighbors.
