Discover a simple, yet powerful approach to dealing
with stressful situations, negative thoughts and difficult emotions: mindfulness meditation.
Mindfulness can be described as a particular way of paying attention and being fully present in the moment. Mindfulness-based therapies can be effective in increasing happiness and health, and have been used successfully to treat stress, anxiety, depression, chronic pain, and addiction.
In this 8-week course, you will learn breathing techniques, sitting meditation, simple yoga, and mindful movement activities; the class also includes group discussion and exercises to transform the way we think about and react to stress.

Mindfulness meditation is not difficult to learn, but like everything else in life requires regular practice for mastery; participants will be expected to do daily mindfulness "homework" exercises. No prior experience with meditation or yoga is necessary; all activities are optional and can be modified for physical limitations.
Please pre-register for this class by Oct. 8.
