Father Recounts Son's Thwarting of Would-Be Car Thief on Yeandle Avenue

In the interest of , here's a hero's tale that came to us from Patch reader Jerry Wilcox:
My son, Jason Wilcox, thwarted an attempt to steal a car from in front of his home at 20578 Yeandle Avenue in Castro Valley at about 5:30 p.m. on Sept. 20.
The would-be thief bolted from the car and ran toward Rudy's Donut House on the corner of Castro Valley Boulevard and Yeandle Avenue, with Jason in hot pursuit, losing one of his shoes in the process.

Jason yelled to anyone who could hear him to call 9-1-1. Someone did, and a motorcycle police officer soon arrived where Jason had the man cornered behind Dino's restaurant and an arrest was made.
