The free dump day is planned for Dec. 9, but register now to get rid of old furniture, appliances and other stuff cluttering your garage.

HAYWARD — Hayward residents can now register to dispose of household debris free of charge on Dec. 9.
Up to five cubic yards of household items — roughly equivalent to the full bed of an average pickup truck — can be brought to the city transfer station.
Certain items aren't accepted, including paint, motor oil, pesticides, tires and car batteries, objects over 75 pounds (except furniture and appliances) and construction debris.
