Hayward Crash Victim ID'd

The man was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.

HAYWARD, CA — The Alameda County Coroner's Bureau provided Patch with the identity of the man who died in a traffic crash in Hayward on Sept. 17. Deo Prasad, 72, of Union City, was pronounced dead at the scene of the three-vehicle wreck.

The crash happened at about 12:50 a.m., near the 27000 block of Huntwood Avenue.

Police found two vehicles, two drivers and one passenger still at the scene. The sole occupant of the first vehicle was uninjured, but the driver of the second vehicle, Prasad, was found unconscious and injured. Medical personnel arrived and pronounced him dead. A passenger in his car was uninjured.

The driver of the third vehicle fled the scene before police could arrive, though officers located the empty vehicle a short distance from the scene.
