Fallen Hayward Police Officer Honored at California Peace Officers' Memorial Ceremony

Five California law enforcement officers who died in the line of duty were enrolled into the memorial Monday.

Fallen California law enforcement officers were honored in Sacramento Monday at the 40th Annual California Peace Officers’ Memorial Ceremony where the names of the five officers who died in the line of duty were added.

"Today we pause and remember the officers who lost their life in the line of duty," Pinole Police officials shared in a social media post, "Those who gave the ultimate sacrifice defending their communities."

Four of the officers ended their watch in 2015 and one in 2014.

Honored officers were:

San Jose Police Department

Officer David Joseph Nelson
Bakersfield Police Department

Officer Bryce E. Hanes
San Bernardino Police Department
End of Watch: November 5, 2015

Officer William H. Waggoner
Long Beach Police Department
End of Watch: December 18, 1954
