Hayward Woman Faces Charges In Death Of 78-Year-Old Shoved Into Street: Report

HAYWARD, CA — Prosecutors filed elder abuse and involuntary manslaughter charges against a Hayward woman accused of shoving a 78-year-old onto the street, killing her, according to an East Bay Times report.

Prosecutors say Veronica Medina, 36, and Pamela Cox, 78, were arguing in the 1400 block of 171st Avenue on June 28, according to the report, when the former shoved the latter.

Cox, in security footage, can be seen stumbling and falling off the sidewalk and onto the street after being shoved by Medina, according to the report.

Cox hit the back of her head on the pavement and died three days later at a hospital after being taken off life support, according to the report.

It's unclear whether Medina has entered a plea in the case.
