San Lorenzo boys stun San Leandro while Dublin boys and girls both edge their Acalanes foes

BOYS

San Lorenzo 62  San Leandro 54

San Lorenzo High used a powerful fourth quarter performance to stun San Leandro High, 62-54.

The Rebels trailed 40-35 after three quarters, but outscored the Pirates 27-14 in the final period to seize the victory.

San Leandro lost despite a 19-point performance by senior Andre Russell. The Pirates fell to 14-5 overall and 6-3 in league play. They have dropped three of their past four games.

San Lorenzo improved to 10-8 overall and 6-2 in league. They have won four of their past five games.

Castro Valley 71  Moreau Catholic 43

Castro Valley High jumped out to an early lead and cruised past Moreau Catholic High, 71-43.

The Trojans led 25-10 after the first period and went into halftime with a 47-21 advantage. They were paced by sophomore guard Jalen McFerren's 12 points.

Castro Valley is now 14-4 overall and 6-2 in league. They have won four in a row and seven of their past eight games.

DFAL

Dublin 57  Acalanes 54

Dublin High hung on to win a crucial league contest over Acalanes High, 57-54.

The game was close throughout. The Gaels led 28-27 at halftime and 40-39 after three quarters.

Dublin was led by junior Joe McGlaston, who scored 20 points, and junior Jamir Andrews, who tallied 15 points.

The Gaels are now 14-6 overall and 5-1 in league. They have won seven of their past eight games.

Acalanes drops to 13-7 overall and 2-4 in league.

GIRLS

HAAL

Arroyo 50  Tennyson 40

Arroyo High evened its record with a convincing win over Tennyson High, 50-40.

The Dons led 27-17 at halftime and then put on an 18-2 run in the third quarter to salt away the game.

Arroyo is now 9-9 overall and 3-6 in league play.

Tennyson is 8-9 overall and 1-8 in league.

DFAL

Dublin 53  Acalanes 51

Dublin High overcame a 16-point halftime deficit to stun Acalanes High at the buzzer, 53-51.

The Gaels trailed 20-10 after the first period and 31-15 at halftime. However, Dublin outscored Acalanes 12-7 in the third period and then 26-11 in the fourth quarter.

Freshman center Jojuan Carrington hit a field goal as time expired to give Dublin the win. Senior guard Shannon Irwin led her team with 23 points.

Dublin is now 12-6 overall and 4-2 in league.

Acalanes falls to 12-8 overall and 2-4 in league.

Dougherty Valley 83  Las Lomas 27

Dougherty Valley High continued its winning ways by crushing Las Lomas High, 83-27.

The Wildcats built up a 27-7 first period lead and went into locker room at halftime with a 49-13 advantage.

Dougherty Valley was led by senior forward Caroline Hughes, who poured in 17 points.

The Wildcats are now 13-7 overall and 5-1 in league play. They've won four in a row.

Las Lomas is now 8-12 overall and 0-6 in league. They've lost seven straight.
