Our May 29, 2014 meeting focused on historic events. Sarah A. presided over our remembrance of the past.
Jim H. began with a speech titled "Violins and Heart Strings." He told us the story of his mother, who was a very gifted violinist, another story about a dusty old violin up for auction at a charity event, and finally the importance of dusting off our address books and calling old friends we haven't spoken to in a long time. His transitions weaved these three parts into a nicely connected congruent speech.
Jacob followed with his sixth speech from the Competent Communications Manual, titled "Don't Stop Believing." Jacob spoke of three people from history who inspired him to believe in himself, including Walt Disney.
Laura finished with "The Road to My Wedding", a tale of how she and her husband met and the journey right up to the exchanging of the vows. Her husband didn't actually propose until the very last minute during the rehearsal!
Janet led the Table Topics, asking members about their remembrances of historic events.
The next meeting will be at the Hayward/Castro Valley Moose Lodge at 7 p.m. Come join us for an entertaining evening.
