"Kay's Bridal is sad to announce that we are closing our doors on September 30th. We have had an amazing 6 months since taking over Kay's Bridal, but we just could't ignore the writing on the wall. Thank you for your prayers and your support. The good news is that if you are looking for a Wedding, Bridesmaid, or Evening Gown we have hundreds available at 30% to 50% off! Please come by and pay us a visit."
Kay's Bridal has been in business since the 1930s, according to a Castro Valley Forum article written shortly after new owners Robert and Karina Gillette took over the store in March.

The store is closed until Thursday and it was not possible to reach the Gillettes to learn more about the store closure or their plans afterward.
Meanwhile, the looming closure leaves a big hole in Castro Valley's heart. For decades the store, now at 21120 Redwood Road, has been the place where brides and bridesmaids were fitted out for that most special of days.
