The Las Positas women’s soccer team scored seven times in the first half and crushed Feather River 7-0 in nonconference play on Friday, Sept. 1.

Grace Toney, a freshman Dublin High graduate, scored two of the Hawks’ first three goals, the first assisted by Kaitlyn Lemus (Foothill) in the 10th minute, and the second unassisted in the 21st minute to make it 3-0. Lemus had two assists overall.
Also scoring for Las Positas were Irie O’Donnell (Dougherty Valley), Danielle Castro (Granada), Nadia Barron Santiago (American Indian HS), Alyssa Fitting (San Leandro) and Judith Orozco (San Leandro).
“The women had a fast-and-furious start in the first half,” Las Positas coach Andy Cumbo said. “Irie did really well pulling the strings in the midfield, and she scored an outstanding goal. Castro, McKenna (Masinter) and Grace were all a dominant presence as well.”
The Hawks (1-1-1), playing a demanding schedule, will host two conference champions from last season this week: Folsom Lake at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 6, and Lake Tahoe at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 8.
“We will have our hands full,” Cumbo said.
