Power Restored to Most of 30K in Castro Valley [UPDATE]
BREAKING: The outage started at about 6 a.m.

CASTRO VALLEY, CA — UPDATE: WEDNESDAY, FEB. 22, 10:05 a.m.
Repair crews have restored power to about 30,000 residents and businesses in the Castro Valley area of Alameda County this morning, a PG&E spokeswoman said.
The power went out at 5:29 a.m. and had been restored as of 8 a.m., spokeswoman Megan McFarland said.

"We're taking this type of outage very seriously," McFarland said.
The latest outage map shows roughly 50 customers in the Castro Valley area still without electricity as of 10 a.m.

In the Hayward area, meanwhile, reported outages began at 9:10 a.m. and total 3,800 as of 10 a.m. Some 1,000 customers in Newark area also are without power this morning. Crews are assessing the reports and repairs.
PG&E officials don't know the cause yet. BART service was not affected, BART spokesman Jim Allison said.

Pacific Gas & Electric is reporting on their outage map that more than 30,000 customers in and near Castro Valley are without power this morning. The most recent outage started around 6 a.m.
PG&E did not have an estimate of when the power will be restored. Crews are assessing the cause of the outage. No other information is currently available.
