Smoky Tire Fire In Castro Valley Quickly Doused
VIDEO: It looked awful, but did virtually no damage.
CASTRO VALLEY, CA — It certainly looked awful. Some used tires stored between two buildings caught fire in Castro Valley late Monday afternoon, pouring thick, black smoke into the sky. But Alameda County Firefighters made quick work of the blaze, stopping the flames before they spread to nearby buildings.
The fire was between the Goodyear Certified Tire and Service Center and Castro Village Bowl in Castro Village Shopping Center.
Firefighters wrote on social media, "Though upgraded to a second alarm fire due to the potential to spread to nearby buildings, all the second alarm units staged and were cancelled shortly thereafter."
