A 45-year-old woman was killed in a solo car crash in the Hayward hills Tuesday afternoon, a police sergeant said. Officers responded to a report of a solo vehicle crash at Hayward Boulevard and Contreras Place shortly after 4 p.m., police Sgt. Jason Corsolini said.
The car had been traveling uphill on Hayward Boulevard where the woman lost control of the vehicle, Corsolini said. The car spun out and crashed into a utility pole at Contreras Place, the sergeant said. Hayward firefighters responded to the scene where tried to save the woman, but she was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Corsolini.
A preliminary investigation indicated that speed and wet roadways were factors in the crash, he said. Drugs or alcohol are not believed to be a factor in the accident, Corsolini said. Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call the Police Department’s traffic bureau at (510) 293-7149.
