Stolen Vehicle Found at Bottom of Castro Valley Canyon

CASTRO VALLEY, CA — Alameda County Fire Department crews roped down into a rugged canyon in the unincorporated area of Castro Valley yesterday to investigate a vehicle that seemed to have run off the road, according to fire officials.
The vehicle was spotted by an East Bay Regional Parks helicopter pilot just before 11 a.m. Tuesday and fire crews responded to the area in order to investigate.
The vehicle was located about 125 feet down a steep embankment near the intersection of Pinehurst and Redwood roads in the hills above Upper San Leandro Reservoir, according to fire officials.

Authorities identified the vehicle as stolen.
