'Student-Centered,' 'Visionary' Assistant Superintendent Joins CVUSD
Leslie Anderson will take the position previously held by Dr. Maggie MacIsaac, who accepted the position of superintendent of the Burlingame School District.

At a special board meeting on July 5, 2011, the Board of Education of the Castro Valley Unified School District appointed Leslie Anderson as the Assistant Superintendent - Educational Services.
Leslie Anderson currently serves as the Senior Director - Educational Services for the San Ramon Valley Unified School District, a position that she has held since 2006.
She will be taking the position previously held by Dr. Maggie MacIsaac, who accepted the position of superintendent of the Burlingame School District.

We are very fortunate to be able to hire an administrator with Leslie's excellent experience in all of the academic areas in which the district has been working. Leslie brings a great depth of personal and professional experiences that will build upon the excellent foundation already in place to further enhance student learning and close the achievement gap.
Leslie is known throughout the state for her leadership in areas of curriculum development, instructional strategies, professional development, and assessment. Her knowledge and skills will greatly assist administrators and teachers working to meet the needs of all students.

When we interviewed Leslie's colleagues, we consistently heard the terms 'student-centered,' 'extremely knowledgeable,' 'a source of excellent information for teachers and administrators,' 'supportive,' 'visionary,' 'listens to people on all sides of an issue,' 'approachable" "open to a source of excellent information,' 'collaborative,' 'creative and innovative,' 'inclusive,' 'highly organized,' 'excellent communicator,' 'a person of integrity,' 'high standards,' and 'collaborative' from everyone (certificated, classified, and administrative).
Leslie comes to the district with the highest respect of her colleagues based on what she has accomplished, but more importantly on how she has worked with people.
Before becoming the Senior Director for Educational Services, Leslie worked in the San Ramon Valley Unified School District as a K-5 Principal and Director of K-12 Instruction, Assessment and Accountability.
She has also served as a K-7 Principal in the San Lorenzo Unified School District and worked as a K-6 Vice-Principal, K-6 Reading Specialist, and elementary teacher in the Antioch Unified School District.
All of these professional experiences will be an asset to the students, staff, and parents of the Castro Valley Unified School District.
Leslie earned her M.S. in School Administration and Supervision from California State University, Hayward and her B.S. in Social Sciences with minors in English and Physical Education from the University of California, Santa Barbara.
