Suspect Aims Weapon At Women, Police; Shot Dead By Officers

A BB gun was recovered, police report. All 3 officers present at the time are believed to have had their body-worn cameras turned on.

HAYWARD, CA — Two Hayward police officers shot and killed a man who was allegedly armed with a BB gun Wednesday night, the city's acting police chief said Thursday.

The shooting occurred shortly after 10 p.m. Wednesday in the area of Foothill Boulevard and City Center Drive.

A witness had reported that a man pointed a firearm at two females in a vehicle. Three officers responded and the man allegedly pointed the firearm in the direction of the officers, prompting two to open fire, Acting Police Chief Bryan Matthews said.
