On April 3, we did not hold our regular meeting, as that would have been in conflict with the Division A contest. Seven members of Top of the Hill attended the contest. We were not just there to sit and watch. Janet was one one of the two Sargent-at-Arms and Fred was one of the timers. The contest consisted of two parts, Table Topics and the International Speech. Only winners or alternates from the five area contests were eligible to participate. Sarah from our club competed in Table Topics coming in third and Jim, who was the alternate, represented us in the International Speech. He did not know he would be speaking until the last minute. He was not one of the top three. Both Sarah and Jim were quite pleased with the job they did and happy that they had the opportunity to represent us.
Our club, #3137, is celebrating its 54th Birthday this Thursday. It formed as Skywest Toastmasters on April 1, 1960 which met near Chabot college. Later the club changed to Top of the Hill and has taken up residence in Castro Valley.
Please come join us for some cake and beverages this Thursday.
