The Alameda County Deputy Sheriffs Activities League's Big Bang Theory of Soccer kicks off another summer of fun.

Starting in the early hours of Saturday morning, over 1,000 participants and supporters showed up at Sunset Park in Cherryland for the first matches of the third annual Deputy Sheriffs Activities League's (DSAL) Big Bang Theory of Soccer.

The league is made up of 950 local children and young teens and a mix of volunteer coaches, referees, and organizational administration. Beyond matches, the program concentrates on encouraging the kindergarten through middle school-aged set away from drugs and violence and toward health and exercise.
