Woman Arrested For Carjacking In Hayward Park
Billie Hughes was accused of using a handgun to carjack the vehicle from Garin Regional Park in Hayward around 4:15 p.m. Monday, Sept. 4.

SAN LEANDRO, CA — A stolen vehicle turned up in front of a San Leandro gas station Friday morning, with police having to negotiate with the driver for over an hour before she surrendered.
Billie Hughes, the driver, was accused of using a handgun to carjack the vehicle from Garin Regional Park in Hayward about 4:15 p.m. Monday, the East Bay Regional Park District said in a statement.
San Leandro police and Alameda County Sheriff's deputies located the vehicle about 11:40 a.m. Friday at the Arco station at 712 Lewelling Boulevard, park district officials said.

Hughes barricaded herself in the vehicle and refused to get out. East Bay Regional Park District police officers and a park district helicopter assisted at the scene during negotiations for Hughes to give up, district officials said.
She was eventually taken into custody and booked into the Santa Rita Jail in Dublin.
