Woman Killed, 6-Year-Old Hospitalized In East Bay Crash: Police
Police say the child suffered facial fractures in the crash.
HAYWARD, CA — A woman was killed and a child was injured when they were struck by a car in the East Bay Saturday evening, police said.
Few details about what caused the crash were immediately available. Police say the 59-year-old woman and the six-year-old boy were found just before 6:30 p.m. in the crosswalk near the intersection of W. Tennyson Road and Baldwin Street in Hayward, according to authorities.
Both the woman and the child were taken to a local hospital for treatment. The woman died from her injuries, while the boy, who suffered facial fractures in the crash, is expected to survive, according to the Hayward Police Department.

The boy has since been reunited with family members, police added. The 60-year-old driver of the car that crashed into the woman and boy, meanwhile, remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation, police said.
At this time, police do not believe drugs or alcohol were factors in the crash.
