700 DWP Customers in Westwood Lose Power
The outage began at 8 p.m. Thursday and work was underway to restore electricity. Find out why it happened.

Efforts were underway today to restore power to up to 700 Los Angeles Department of Water and Power customers in Westwood.
The outage was reported around 8 p.m. Thursday and traced to equipment failure at an underground structure near the 600 block of Warner Avenue, on the UCLA perimeter, DWP spokesperson MaryAnn Pierson said.
Repairs were expected to take between one and four hours, she said.

The equipment breakdown was caused by heavy use during the recent heat wave, Pierson said.
