ASSOCIATES FOR BREAST AND PROSTATE CANCER STUDIES HONORS CHANDRA WILSON AND BRANDI GLANVILLE AT ANNUAL MOTHER'S DAY LUNCHEON
Actress, Comedienne Lisa Ann Walter Hosts
(Los Angeles, CA – April 23, 2015) The Associates For Breast and Prostate Cancer Studies, affectionately known as the ABCs, hosts its annual, star-studded Mother’s Day Luncheon at the Four Seasons Hotel at Beverly Hills, Wednesday, May 6, 2015 to benefit breast and prostate cancer research at John Wayne Cancer Institute at Providence Saint John’s Health Center. The afternoon will honor award-winning actress, writer and director Chandra Wilson, star of Grey’s Anatomy, and author and former top model Brandi Glanville of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills with the organization’s “Women of Achievement Award.”
Beverly Cohen and Sheri Rosenblum co-chair the event which features an informal fashion show by St. John Boutique. Actress, comedienne and author Lisa Ann Walter, emcees. Prior to the luncheon there will be a luxury boutique featuring a fashionable array of select vendors donating a portion of proceeds from their sales to the organization.
“This year’s honorees are familiar faces to their legion of television fans,” said Gloria Gebbia, president of the ABCs. “More importantly, each has overcome adversity to rise to the top of their chosen professions, while always putting their children and their charities front and center.”

“Every year, Gloria Gebbia and the ABCs create an amazing event that celebrates all those very special ladies in our lives, past and present…our mothers,” said Patrick Wayne, chairman of the board at John Wayne Cancer Institute and son of the legendary actor John Wayne. “But even more than their dedication to orchestrating an incredible afternoon, it is their ongoing commitment to raising the much needed funds necessary to one day eradicate cancer and provide hope to cancer patients around the globe that makes them the true stars of the day.”
Chandra Wilson is the definition of versatility. An accomplished actress of stage, screen and television, she rose to national prominence as Dr. Miranda Bailey in the hit series Grey’s Anatomy, a role which netted her multiple Emmy nominations as well as capturing two Screen Actors Guild Awards. She has since broadened her resume to include directing multiple episodes of Grey’s Anatomy and most recently, as the creative force behind ABC-TV’s mega-hit, Scandal. Wilson, the mother of three, is an activist for the cause of Cyclic Vomiting Syndrome and serves as the spokesperson for the Cyclic Vomiting Syndrome Association as well as the celebrity ambassador for CureMito!, after her teenage daughter developed the disease. For the ninth season of Grey’s Anatomy, Wilson pitched the idea of featuring Cyclic Vomiting Syndrome in the series. The episode, “Second Opinion” aired in 2012 and was directed by Wilson.

For more than 17 years, Brandi Glanville traveled the world as a high fashion runway and print model, appearing on the covers of top fashion magazines including Glamour and Cosmopolitan and working for luxury design houses including Chanel, Gucci and Giorgio Armani. In addition to her work on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, she recently added ‘author’ to her credits, with two New York Times bestsellers, “Drinking and Tweeting: and Other Brandi Blunders” and “Drinking and Dating: Social Media is Ruining Romance.” She recently launched a new application for Android called Blunder Block and hosts a regular podcast, Brandi Glanville Unfiltered. The mother of two sons, Glanville is active in a number of charities.

The ABCs was formed 25 years ago by a group of dedicated philanthropists who had originally been associated with the Eddie Cantor Charitable Foundation, an organization that supported a variety of causes. These individuals wanted to devote all their charitable efforts and resources to eradicating cancer and unanimously chose to support progressive and innovative breast cancer and prostate cancer research at the John Wayne Cancer Institute. Today, the Associates for Breast and Prostate Cancer Studies are over 150 members strong and growing.
