After being named Miss North Hollywood USA in September, Ashley Reinke is now going on to compete for Miss California USA in January. After reflecting about what makes all the work to compete in Miss California USA worth it Ashley had a realization after hearing about Teen Cancer America, “Who is our main demographic of pageantry fans? Teenagers. And what’s one of the hardest phases in life to get though? Being a teenager. Being a teenager alone is hard but combine this with the diagnosis of cancer seems almost unfathomable. To be able to bring awareness to an organization that is trying to aid in young adults coping in that scenario pushes the motor on my year as Miss North Hollywood to the max.” Teen Cancer America was founded by Roger Daltrey and Pete Townshend in London as Teen Cancer Trust; they have since expanded to Westwood where they work closely with the UCLA Medical center. As Ashley gets closer to the January 9-11th competition for Miss California USA she remembers that this is not just a competition for herself, but it is the chance to spread a voice for teenagers nationally.
